  • Overview

    Access Brand Communications is looking for a Strategic and Creative Planner that will support well-known brands in categories spanning health & wellness, food & beverage, technology and more. This person will deliver thoughtful and provocative insights, strategic counsel and direction that will inspire big, bold and creative thinking, while helping shape integrated creative platforms and ideas. They will work across variety of accounts and help with new business efforts. This person will be expected to grow and shape the Planning function at Access.

    About the job

    • Act as a strategic steward to account teams by partnering to develop programs that enhance and expand work with current clients and win new business by applying Access’s proprietary planning tools.
    • Responsible for proactively shaping, driving and owning the process to generate and sell-in creative, actionable and unique programs rooted in clear communication of ideas and insights, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of client’s business and its consumer/end user
    • Elicit powerful insights utilizing various methods (qualitative & quantitative research, interviews, surveys)
    • Keep tabs on current trends and be on pulse for what's new in culture and the larger zeitgeist
    • Develop creative briefs for ideation sessions; lead creative ideation and brainstorm sessions (internal, with clients and with larger integrated agency teams) for client opportunities; vet and develop ideas generated in brainstorm sessions
    • Train staff on planning process; serve as agency guidepost for all things strategy & creative
    • Welcome debate and encourage constructive criticism. Communicate clear, progressive direction.

    • Observant, analytical and a spotter of patterns
    • Empathetic and able to put your feet in the shoes of a CEO, mom, dentist all in the same day
    • Opinionated, someone who has quite a few soapboxes and likes to stand on them
    • Entrepreneurial, someone who has visions - big ones
    • A great storyteller, someone who can paint a Picasso, be it in writing or verbally

    Qualifications

    • 8+ years of work experience in strategic planning - not necessarily in PR (those coming from outside channels like advertising and digital are welcomed)
    • A great team player, comfortable working with account teams and creatives
    • Exceptional oral and written communications skills; captivating presenter, storyteller and great listener; strong negotiating, persuasion and diplomacy skills
    • Ability to solve complex brand/client challenges; strong balance of traditional, innovative, experimental, shopper and digital/social experience; proven ability to creatively problem solve.
    • Excellent facilitation and negotiation skills required to lead a room of people and align around a clear and singular point of view.
    • Experience in analyzing and making use of research
    • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit with vision and leadership to enact change
    • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships clients, colleagues and vendors
